Why do we bake a cake or bread at home? Why do we make jam or wine? The reasons for coffee roasting at home are similar, with one difference: roasting coffee yourself is less time consuming and easier than you think.

You invest about 30 minutes once or twice a week and you will be rewarded with the best coffee taste full of natural aromas and flavours. During the roasting process more than 1000 flavours and essential oils are released – that is shortly before the coffee enjoyment at home. That way you obtain the greatest diversity of aroma and thus a perfect taste experience.

We know that tastes are different, and the same is true also for coffee. Roasting coffee yourself allows you to determine your perfect personal degree of roasting and thus to obtain an ideal coffee taste. Whether for brewing in a French Press, an espresso machine, in a coffee machine or a fully automatic coffee machine, always roast your coffee to your individual taste: strong and intensive or flowery mild – you alone decide.

And we should not forget the financial side: Buying green coffee saves you money! Green coffee beans are much cheaper than roasted coffee beans. The reason for that lies in the German Tax Law which exempts raw coffee (but not roasted coffee) from the coffee tax of 2,19 € per kilogram. In other words: if you buy unroasted coffee beans to roast coffee yourself at home, you save this tax.

Note for home roasters: It is allowed to roast coffee free of tax for private use only. When roasting coffee for commercial use a coffee tax shall be paid to the responsible tax authority. Please contact your tax advisor for detailed information on the commercial production of roasted coffee. Rohebohnen.de is legally obliged against the German Customs to provide them on request with customer data for the purpose of a possible examination.
