Preparation of coffee with the Karlsbad coffee maker
 

Brewing coffee in the Karlsbad porcelain coffee maker is another traditional way of preparing a good coffee. No extra filter is needed. The coffee is filtered through a fine porcelain sieve.  

The completely tasteless porcelain guarantees best pure coffee flavours. Thus, the coffee brewed with the Karlsbad pot is very rich and full-bodied.

  1. Grind the coffee beans
    T
    he coffee beans for the Karlsbad coffee maker should be ground at a very coarse setting. The use of coarse-ground coffee powder facilitates a slow and uniform extraction. Moreover, finely ground coffee powder would pass through the porcelain sieve and get into the coffee.
     
  2. Fill the ground coffee in the pot
    We recommend to use 1-2 tablespoons or approx. 10g of coffee per cup.
     
  3. Moisten the coffee powder and pour the hot water 
    First, the coffee powder placed in the porcelain filter is moistened with a small amount of water. After about 30 seconds the coffee begins to swell (the so called “bloom”). The "bloom" takes place due to the escape of CO2 from the coffee. Now slowly fill the remaining water into the water dispenser of the pot.

     
  4. Remove the filter
    A
    fter the desired amount of water has run through, remove the porcelain filter and put the lid back on the pot. The coffee is ready to enjoy!

TIP: The used coffee powder is perfectly suitable to use as a fertilizer for plants. You can simply add it to the potting soil.
